Organizational goals for 2008-2009
The board of directors or GEMA USA, INC. have agreed that the principle goal for the next year will be to bring the facility in Hainamosa, namely The Jewels of Christ School, up to the standards required by the Dominican Republic Department of Education to obtain certification. This will provide many additional benefits and also secure ownership of the property in Hainamosa.
The safety of the children at the school must remain at the top of any priority list. The stairwell rising to the sanctuary area of the New Song Church must be completed. The electrical system will need updating and the plumbing issues will be resolved. Windows will be added into the sanctuary to protect the granite floor that has already been laid. Normally by American building code a facility would be weather tight before any mechanicals (electrical, plumbing, flooring, etc) would be added. However the situation that we face is what it is and we feel the need to be good stewards of the investment already made into this facility as it curently sits, be faithful to complete that. We believe the building is a testimony to the community. We want it to be finished, functional, and in all forms demonstrate excellence.
If its worth doing for the glory of God it should have quality stamped all over it! A more detailed list does exist, this is in general the focus of the GEMA USA, INC. for 2008.
Simply put finish what we have started to a high standard. Then when what we have is complete, consider other capital development projects, possibly in 2009 or 2010.
Please be in prayer with us that the resources we need come in and the right people, namely a project manager can be in place to guide these goals towards completion.
2009 THE WORK OF THE MINISTRY IN THE DR:
The Jewels of Christ School is a Preschool, K-12 school. There were 300 students last year. It is a Christian School so not only do the students learn basic curriculum they have the Bible integrated into the classroom studies. Jose Lopez over the years has been the administrator of this school. Gloria has transitioned into this role in the last few years as Jose has focused on growing The New Song Church.
The New Song Church is the church that Jose Lopez Pastors and I believe the church has about 50 members. It is Jose's goal to double the size of the church in the year 2009. The church has small groups, a Sunday service, Sunday School, The small groups do street evangelism. Jose does street evangelism.
So GEMA USA was established in 1994 and is the American non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization where people can donate and we raise money and collect support from churches, individuals, colleges, who want to give to support the day to day expenses, salaries, etc. that keep these entities together. So there is a lot that goes into that. We are working to successfully manage a student sponsorship program which is an extremely complicated endeavor, students come, go, this is a challenging program that we hope to launch in the fall.
There are multiple churches that are very active in supporting GEMA USA. They send teams down every year and sometimes multiple times a year to do:
Construction Work on the facility, Lead Vacation Bible School programs for the school and in the church, Puppet Shows, Medical Clinics, Street Evangelism, Sports Camps, Teacher Mentor programs Pastors conferences, Mens conferences, Womens Conferences are all being planned. We "assist" with the coordination of these trips.
All of these things and Jose will state this, is about bringing Glory to God.
